So, as a blue-eyed girl, I am well aware of the struggles of trying to pull off blue eyeshadow or blue-anything around the eye area.
When I was younger, with blue being one of my favourite colours, I used to wear it in one gradient, from the lid to the brow... unfortunately, no one told me back then that it was NOT okay to be wearing it like that!
After many trials and errors, I finally taught myself a technique and a few rules that really helped me to pull off the colour as beautifully as I could. And I am going to share these tips with you!
So keep scrolling, and you'll find out how YOU - as a blue eyed beauty - can pull off the elusive blue eyeshadow!
Pairing your blues, or any colour, with a neutral tone like a brown or tan shade will help to make the colour more wearable. Blue is a very cold colour, so pairing it with a warmer undertone will help to neutralise the brightness, and control the intensity of the colour a little. This way, your blue eyes won't be washed out by the blue tones of the shadow.
Minimise the amount of colour you use for the look. Instead of covering your entire lid, perhaps try using the colour as an accent; such as a liner (as shown in the photos for this blog), or using a deeper blue at the outer corners of your eye for a deep shading colour, or even a bright, light blue on the inner corner of your eye as a popping highlight!
If you go for applying a blue shade as an eyeshadow or liner, the best way to stop your eyes from washing out is to break the colours apart. Apply a white/black liner on the water line (or any other shade for that matter..that isn't a blue) to create a break, or a sort of barrier, between the blue of your eyes and the blue of the eyeshadow/liner.
If any of you have any other tips for making blue eyeshadows for blue eyes wearable, then please share them with us! I, and all of you reading this, would love to know! <3
Much love to you all, and remember
